  • Report explores technological needs of brokers & agents
        (Copyright Thompson’s World Insurance News)
Independent agents and brokers report significant differences
between their technological needs and what carriers currently offer.
A recent survey by Deep Customer Connections asked agents and
        brokers about p&c carrier technology.
In the resulting report, ‘In Their Own Words,’ agents and
brokers say they are frustrated by many technology issues that cost
them significant time in tasks — often clerical and repetitive in
nature — and diminish their capacity to sell and service business.
“Our aim is to strengthen the carrier-independent agent distribution
channel,” Deep Customer Connections president Nort Salz
said. “Gathering this kind of information helps carriers better
understand what they should invest in to make it easier for their
agents to place business with them.”
The more than 400 brokers and agents in Canada and the U.S.
surveyed identified and ranked the importance of specific technology
functionalities they want to see provided by carriers that are not
        currently offered.
What agents want most in carrier technology is ease of use,
including ready access and reliability of performance.
“The system needs to work the way they work,” the firm said in
        the report.
